Compassionate care when you and your pet need it the most.

When the time comes to say goodbye, we'll be here for you every step of the way.

How will I know when it's the right time?

The hardest decisions we face as pet owners involve geriatric and end-of-life care. We recognize that the needs and beliefs of each family are different. Although your veterinarian cannot make the decision for you, our team is here to help guide you through the process and support you and your pet during this difficult transition.

This article: "How Will I Know?", provided by Ohio State University's "Honoring The Bond" Program, offers great insight for pet owners and provides a checklist that can help you determine your pet's quality of life and can give you some guidance on when is the "right time".

What options do I have?

Kings Highway Animal Clinic offers both in-home or in-clinic euthanasia services. There are no "right" or "wrong" choices when it comes to end of life care. Whichever option you choose, we will always provide the same peaceful and gentle passage for your pet.

In-Home Euthanasia
Kings Highway Animal Clinic offers In-Home Euthanasia services for established clients and patients. We can travel to your home to perform the euthanasia where your pet is most relaxed, surrounded by their family.

In-Clinic Euthanasia
If you prefer to visit our clinic for the euthanasia procedure, we will provide a comfortable space for you and your pet in our office. Our priority is to provide a peaceful, pain-free and gentle passing for your pet.

In-Home Euthanasia

Benefits of In-Home Euthanasia
  • Allows your pet to be relaxed, in their own surroundings
  • Less stress for pets who are difficult to move
  • Allows more family members to be present than in an office setting
  • The ability to grieve for your pet in peace

If you choose in-home euthanasia, we will coordinate a time to travel to your home. The euthanasia appointment typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes. Your pet will receive a sedative to help them relax, just as they would in our office, followed by the euthanasia injection. After their passing, our veterinary team will give you time to say goodbye and then will transport them back to our office, if you choose one of our cremation options.

Pet Cremation

Kings Highway Animal Clinic offers cremation services through Fond Memories Pet Cemetery & Crematorium. Our veterinary team will assist in the coordination, transport, and selection of a cremation package for your family during this difficult time.

Fond Memories offers two types of cremation packages: Private Cremation and Communal Cremation.

Private Cremation

Private cremation provides you with the opportunity to keep your pet’s cremated remains as a permanent and personal keepsake. When you choose private cremation, your treasured pet will be the only pet in the cremation chamber during the cremation process. When the cremation process is complete, they ensure that you receive only the cremated remains of your pet.

Private cremation includes one of the urn options pictured, as well as an engraved name plate, and clay paw print.

Communal Cremation

With communal cremation, your pet is gently placed into the crematory together with other pets. When the cremation process is complete, the communal remains are collected and placed in a communal burial lot at one of Fond Memories' pet cemeteries.

No cremated remains are returned to you when you choose a communal cremation, however you may choose to receive a clay paw print if desired for an additional fee.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Can't say enough about this amazing clinic!! So very thankful for their patience, skill and care! I have a very temperamental canine and Dr. Gowens and her staff were so wonderful with my girl! We just relocated to the area, so starting over with a new vet can be a challenging process, but this was the smoothest transition! Looking forward to working with them for years to come!" - Christie G.

"Everyone was professional, helpful, and friendly and took the very best care of my horses and donkey. Highly recommend Dr. Hermansson who was so kind and patient." - Nicky L.

"Kings Highway has been great! My pets have been taken care of by Drs. Gowens, Hermansson, and Rackley. They are all very caring and are very helpful and honest when going through options with you and have helped me make the best choices and care plans for my pets." - Candace B.
